Trident maple saplings

I picked up two trident maple saplings this spring. Unfortunately they had already leafed out.

I tried to repot one without disturbing the roots much, but had to cut them back a bit because I could not untangle them. The other was left in the pot and the pot was inserted into a pond basket so that the escaping roots can spread into the basket.

So far the one that was actually repotted hasn’t put out any new growth really. Hopefully as spring continues it recovers and starts growing more.
