First wire marks

Found my first wire marks after leaving this wire on the top of my ficus microcarpa. Hopefully they will heal over eventually.

I plan on growing this top out to create a new apex. I have heard that wiring over marks in the opposite direction can help hide marks. I might try that as well.

  1. I’m a newbie at the bonsai thing, but I’m in love with this hobby! I just wanted to stop by and let you know that I love this blog! I really hope the wire marks will heal!đŸ™‚

  2. Reblogged this on Bonsai advice and commented:
Many people avoid wiring ficus, and if they do they check it often. Mostly clip and grow is used or other means of creating movement. In Asia and China, wire is left to bite deliberately, and then wired in the opposite direction, to bite again. That creates aged appearance to the branches and trunk. Some time the wire is left even embedded.
